In the coming period I will blog about once a month for you. That is why I think it would be nice to introduce myself to you.

My name is Briene, I am 20 years old and I live in Rotterdam. I have almost finished my Communication degree, which is why I now work as a customer service coach for a government project. In my spare time I like to be around my friends to do fun things. I also enjoy reading, writing and Taizé travel.

Taizéreizen, nice bridge to tell what connects me with Ekklesia. As a child I had a Catholic upbringing, but in puberty I completely stopped here until December 2010, the Taizé meeting in Rotterdam. For the Taize strangers a short explanation: Taizé is a village in France where young people come together around Christian spirituality. You can compare it to a place of pilgrimage.

My parents were busy organizing this event and asked me to help out for a day too. Here I was very touched by the communal prayer and the friendly atmosphere. That's how I decided to spend the summer in Taizé (if I went to Ibiza, I had to pay for it myself, but if I went to Taizé, my parents paid. So the choice was quickly made.)

In Taizé I came into contact with an image of God very much and I found it very difficult to deal with it. I had gone to Taizé spontaneously, but came back as a believer! Certain activities of Ekklesia have helped me a lot to give hands and feet to this. For example, I recently made my confession at LSE, something that I can never and will never forget.

All in all, wonderful experience for which I am very grateful. I am also looking forward to writing for you about themes around spirituality. Now just come up with a topic for my next article. See you next time!
