Dear church members,
At the student chaplaincy, we regularly speak with students who are looking for a room. They are involved in activities related to art, meditation, and social issues.
Do you have a spare room in your house because the children have moved out, or simply because you have the space? Then you can mean a great deal to someone from the student chaplaincy.
What does a room interview via Kerk en Kamer entail?
- cosiness: Having a young person in the house brings liveliness. Many landlords appreciate having someone in the house who occasionally makes small talk or puts out the trash.
- You remain in control: In the Netherlands, host family rentals have a statutory trial period of 9 months. If it turns out not to be a good match, you can terminate the contract relatively easily.
- Financially favorable: Thanks to the room rental exemption, in 2026 you may earn an additional €6.633 per year tax-free from rental income.
- Careful matching: We don't just look for any tenant. We conduct interviews and know the students. We remain your dedicated point of contact even after placement.
Renting out a room is not just a simple matter; it is sharing your 'home'. But it is also a wonderful way to connect generations and offer a young, starting adult a foundation.
